Good Food Good Fun Good Planet
One of the most amazing things in life is the enjoyment of food. It is
part of how we celebrate life in our busy day. When we set out to create
our first wholesome "Cookies" we thought of them "as a
vacation in a bag". From that moment on we decided that all products
developed at Organica Foods would be fun.
It wasn't that long ago when we didn't have to think if food was good
for us or not. Our world has changed. The genetically modified organisms
and pesticides that are used in foods today present both known and unknown
risks for us and the environment.
We ask that you help us make a difference for ourselves and our planet
by demanding foods that are organic and GMO free.
We wanted to make cookies that are good for you and good tasting. Cookies
that had all the things we believe in and none of the stuff that should
not be there. Cookies that ultimately support animals, the environment,
and the planet. And best of all, cookies that delight our taste buds.
Vicki Slotnick and Jeremy Paige founded Organica Foods in 1998 in Toluca
Lake, California. Here is their story:
Vicki comes from a long line of family bakers. Her grandparents owned
the famous Four Star Bakery. "I now realize that I was born to be
in the food business - it's in my blood, my heart and my soul." Jeremy's
background is business and marketing - he's the brain behind the business.
Both Jeremy and Vicki have lived a vegetarian lifestyle for over 20 years.
We use organic ingredients and pride ourselves on supporting chemical
- free organic agriculture.
The name Organica was simple - reflecting simplicity, originality and
fun.
In 1998 we set out on a quest to make the perfect peanut butter cookie.
We baked and tested. We invited our toughest critics over to try our creations
and asked for their feedback. When all they could say was "Yum"
we knew we had arrived at the perfect recipe. That became known as the
Yum test and we still use it today when we whip up something new in the
kitchen.
During test marketing the cookies became so popular we couldn't bake enough
to keep on the shelves. The demand for Organica Cookies became overwhelming
and exciting. By the summer of our first year the volume of requests and
orders had grown to the point where we devoted 100% of our time to baking
- that's when we decided to get the cookies out there for everyone to
enjoy.
